Kane’s story

Kane was massively apprehensive initially after leaving school and college with no recognised life changing qualifications as such, he wanted to make a change and the only thing I asked from him was to attend every session and build his self-worth and confidence.

By doing this Kane started to fly, initially we focused on developing his Functional Skills, having left school 3 years ago and not gaining any permanent employment it was a struggle, but Kane was soon back in focused mood and was impressive. Even taking some of the sessions at times to inspire other learners.

Whilst completing his first course we managed to get him some part time work at the local Morrisons in Bulwell which helped him to keep learning whilst earning extra money where benefits allowed.

Kane went onto complete Level3 Functional Skills – Level 2 Warehousing – Level 1 Retail and Level 1 Personal Development for Employability courses under our guidance and has just flown from there.

His position at Morrisons was made permanent and now he is in his first year of an Apprenticeship guided through his job with a view to him becoming a Team Leader in due course. He now has his first rented home, has been able to learn to drive and created a vision and independence he once dreamed of!
