New Partnership Announcement: Cumbria Tourism joins MtW!

Movement to Work is excited to announce a new partnership with Cumbria Tourism, aimed at helping young people in the region who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) access life-changing work experiences.

As the county’s official Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), Cumbria Tourism brings invaluable insight into the local economy – particularly the tourism and hospitality sectors, which are key drivers of growth and opportunity across the region.

This partnership will focus on co-creating practical pathways into work for young people, through high-quality placements, training, mentoring, and access to employment across the visitor economy.

Louise Quinney, Chief Operating Officer at Movement to Work, said:

“As a proud Cumbrian resident myself, I’m absolutely delighted to see this partnership between Movement to Work and Cumbria Tourism come to life. This collaboration brings together a shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). By harnessing the collective power of the region’s vibrant tourism and hospitality sector, we have a real chance to open doors and help the next generation take their first steps into work. I’m excited to see the positive impact this partnership will have across the region I call home.”

Head of Partnerships and Projects at Cumbria Tourism, Rachel Tyson, added:

“This new partnership is another key step in maximising future tourism talent and giving more people the best life and job opportunities possible. It really fits with our commitment to giving everyone a chance to explore meaningful career paths in our diverse and vibrant industry – especially important in a largely rural area like Cumbria.”

This collaboration is rooted in shared values – inclusivity, opportunity, and local impact. Together, Movement to Work and Cumbria Tourism are committed to helping more young people gain the skills, confidence, and experiences they need to move into meaningful, long-term employment.
