Qube Learning maximises quality of provision over quantity, with a dedicated Youth Development Team who work tirelessly with small caseloads of young people who are often furthest from the labour market, in an effort to find them a work placement that meets their unique needs.
They only engage with employer organisations who guarantee a job interview for a genuine paid position for the achieving young person, whether it be employment or an Apprenticeship. This commitment to putting the student’s interests first has led them to consistently outperform the sector average performance for pre-employment work placement programmes and build some now well-established progression opportunities with national employers, predominantly in the Retail sector.
Case Studies
Mercedes’ Story
Mercedes finished her 12 week Traineeship in a few weeks. After waiting 6 weeks for her DBS to come back before she could go into placement Mercedes never missed an appointment with Kick Start and more importantly, never missed a day in placement. She did take her 18th birthday off but only because her manager practically forced her out of the door!
She got brilliant feedback every week about her positive and proactive nature and she worked incredibly hard on her Functional Skills. She had very little confidence in her academic ability, however she passed her E3 Maths and is well on the way to achieving a Level 2 in English. Mercedes always asks for revision resources to take home and she worked so hard on her English writing, doing so much preparation she passed with an astonishing 93%.
Xena’s Story
Xena initially started learning with Qube wanting to do childcare as it was her dream. After being found a Traineeship placement within a nursery after a couple of weeks she decided childcare wasn’t for her – a perfect example of how doing a Traineeship gives you the opportunity to sample industries/jobs.
As she had a very outgoing personality it was suggested that she enters the world of hospitality and she started at Cue Gardens. In December 2016 Xena progressed to a Level 2 Food and Beverage Service Apprenticeship and has since progressed further to a Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor Apprenticeship. After Xena completed her Traineeship she was employed by Cue Gardens as a Trainee Food and Beverage Assistant. Prior to completing her Level 2 Apprenticeship, Xena was promoted to Food and Beverage Supervisor. Xena’s first promotion supported her progression to a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Whilst completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship, Xena has successfully been promoted to Food and Beverage Manager within Cue Gardens. Xena’s duties have developed from serving food and drink to customers, to planning rota’s, preparing reports, recruiting and training new employees, marketing the new brand and completing financial tasks for the business.
Xena has always been keen to learn and has always met the targets set for her, either on time or early. She often comes in for visits or extra support on her days off and has completed all her work to a high standard, throughout both Apprenticeships.
