Jan Palin – Head of Insights & Innovation
Jan joined the Movement to Work team in June 2022 as Head of Insights & Innovation on secondment from Department Work Pensions (DWP), where she has worked for 40 years.
Jan has held numerous roles within DWP including Lead Community Partner specialising in supporting customers with a disability; worked as an Account Manager managing a large portfolio of employer’s recruitment and managed a Jobcentre in the most deprived ward in the city of Liverpool as well as many other roles.
Jan has been on secondment before; for 2 years into the private sector that resulted in her opening a training academy on Merseyside aimed at supporting young people into training and employment.
Her most recent role was working for the Universal Credit (UC) programme as Head of Change Impacting; all policy ideas and any changes the department wanted to make had to pass through her teams ‘Gateway’ to ensure nothing endangered the UC live service.
In her spare time, Jan enjoys socialising with family and friends occasionally with a gin or a wine in hand. To burn off the calories Jan enjoys walking the family Labrador Milo.
Over the years she has been heavily involved with her church community even returning to university a few years back to study and achieve a foundation degree in pastoral leadership.
Jan’s passion is making sure every young person is supported and given a chance. She is a mentor for numerous people across the Civil Service and is a Care Ambassador supporting young people leaving care.
