Your future on track with the Rail Skills Hub.
Are you interested in a career in engineering or rail? We are proud to introduce Rail Skills Hub, partnered with Network Rail, to help 16–19-year-olds build real skills and get on track for a future in the rail industry – even if you don’t yet meet the usual entry requirements.
Designed as a pre-apprenticeship pathway, the Rail Skills Hub is dedicated to supporting those aged 16-19 who have a passion for rail, aspire to build a career in the industry, and are seeking education, employment, or training.
The rail industry is a fascinating sector to get involved in, with great career progression potential. We are offering young people the opportunity to pursue a career in railway engineering.
You will enrol in a Level 1 or 2 engineering qualification at the college, with Network Rail working closely to enrich and enhance the curriculum. You will get a chance to learn from people already working in the field what it’s like working in the rail industry, their experiences, career journeys, and industry knowledge, and offer invaluable insight to learners.

You will also benefit from structured mentoring sessions delivered by a Network Rail employee, alongside essential employability and soft skills, including interview techniques, communication strategies, and professional development.
During the courses, you will have the opportunity to:
