Movement to Work, a collaboration of UK employers that aims to tackle youth unemployment through the provision of high-quality work experience placements, has made 64,000 placements, it announced at its fourth annual Celebration Event.
The most recent figures from the Office of National Statistics show that there are currently 790,000 young people (aged 16 to 24) in the UK who were not in education, employment or training (NEET). While the UK’s overall unemployment rate is at its lowest level in decades, the number of young people that are NEET remains stubbornly high. This is a significant economic and social issue for the UK; and one that the Movement helps tackle through its model of collaborative action between the private, public and voluntary sectors.
