People Plus creates impact through #FeedTheNation

Summary: 

Since the start of the #FeedTheNation campaign 12,000 people have now started in ‘essential’ roles with Staffline. 6,000 of these are completely new workers to Staffline who have moved from industries and roles affected by Covid-19 such as self-employment, hospitality, automotive and retail.

  • PeoplePlus have now reached 553,000 unique users to the Staffline Group websites since campaign go-live. With 120,000 accessing the site directly.
  • Feedthenation.co.uk Website users have increased to 53,000 showing a sustained increase over the past two weeks.
  • PeoplePlus are currently engaging with 700 candidates to support them with transitional training into a new sector/role and have matched those candidates to vacancies

Devicesdotnow announce the launch of their Digital Skills Week

Summary: 

Devicesdotnow have announced the launch of Digital Skills week. The event will involve a week of interactive virtual meetings and events hosted in partnership with thought leaders, influencers and industry. 

The virtual kick-off event will be on Monday, the 18th of May at 10am with a session hosted by Futuredotnow Chair Sir Peter Estlin. In this session there will also be some exciting VIP guests reflecting on the period since the organisations launch and doing some future gazing into a post Covid-19 world.

The Department for Education launch the Skills Toolkit for Young People

Street League to work with unemployed young people aged 16-24

Summary:  Street League is the UK’s leading Sports for Employment Charity that works with young people aged 16 – 24 that are currently not engaging in any education, training or employment opportunities. 

What is on offer during COVID-19:

  • One to one career support and guidance via phone calls or video calls to young people Monday – Friday 9.30am – 4.00pm
  • Remote sessions in writing CV’s / Covering Letters
  • Interview practice via telephone or video call
  • Signposting to training courses such as Level 2 Safeguarding and many other opportunities from varied sectors

Free Business Webinar from the Prince’s Trust and RHG Consult

Summary: A free business webinar will be delivered by Prince’s Trust in partnership with training organisation RHG Consult for young people to learn all about self-employment and how to set up and run their own business. Webinar topics include marketing, invoicing, taxation, finances, skills for business and funding. This programme will be open to anyone aged 18-30, and not in education, employment or training.

Working in partnership with the British Retail Consortium and RWRC (the home of Retail Week and World Retail Congress), retailTRUST has launched ‘CaRe20 – Caring for Retail during COVID-19’. The fundraising appeal will offer a lifeline to those on retail’s frontline who are putting their customer’s health and wellbeing before their own. 

The financial grants will help retail workers, young people and their families with:

  • Grants to help with food, essential bills, childcare and other necessities
  • Telephone and online counselling to help those with stress and anxiety
  • Retraining needs for those facing a redundancy or seeking a new role.

In the coming weeks, we will also be offering a series of FREE work-ready webinars designed to help those that are unemployed back into the world of work with the relevant skills, knowledge and confidence.
