THE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS CURRICULUM
The value of work experience placements can be significantly increased by providing training, advice and guidance to young people as part of their work experience journey. The Employability Skills Curriculum provides a comprehensive suite of training that is free of charge for members where employers can pick & choose from to support their Movement to Work placements.
A major challenge for young people is that they often lack the skills and confidence needed to operate and succeed in a work environment. This curriculum focusses on developing core soft skills and practical employability skills that are expected in work, for example, how to make good first impressions, setting objectives and understanding expectations etc.
The training content available through the Employability Skills Curriculum is designed to build the core skills and understanding to help drive participants’ engagement in their placements and demonstrate the relevance of their experience. This should enable employers and line managers to focus their time on the specific needs of their participants rather than developing basic skills and understanding.
