The curriculum focuses on developing core employability skills in three main areas; In the Workplace, Employability Skills and Digital Skills.
The curriculum also aligns with the Skills Builder Universal Framework and is a great opportunity to practise and reflect on the essential skills in preparation for employment.

1. IN THE WORKPLACE
Work Experience can be stressful if you do not know what to expect. The ‘In the Workplace’ topics will provide young people with an understanding of the common workplace behaviours, building the skills and confidence they will need to make the most of the opportunities available on their work experience placement. As such, we recommend it is completed before starting or at the very beginning of their placement.
What to expect in the first days?
Whatever the length of a work placement, the first few days are key to making lasting impressions and setting the tone for the placement. Knowing more about expectations will help make those first few days less daunting for participants.

Teamwork

2. EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS
The modules recommended below will help your students/jobseekers understand how best to optimise the skills and experience they have gained on their placement to successfully apply for a job or further education.
As such, we recommend it is completed towards the end of or just after a placement. Ideally a line manager/ teacher would support this, e.g. to review their updated CV or LinkedIn profile or run a mock interview.

3. DIGITAL SKILLS
Did you know that 90% of new jobs require digital skills? As the world around us develops at a rapid pace with the rise of new technologies, the need for digital skills has never been greater no matter the industry. Employers are increasingly looking for candidates with digital skills. Work experience candidates who can demonstrate digital confidence will stand out from others and make a memorable impression.
The content in the Accenture Digital Skills programme provides learners with the digital fundamentals they need to do that. We recommend starting with our Digital Skills for Work which introduces learners to the importance of digital technology and how we interact with it at home and work—to how it’s changing industries and jobs, and why developing a growth mindset is a key capability to adapt to these new opportunities. This is aimed at those preparing to enter the workplace, who are looking to understand how they can develop the skills to thrive in the digital world of work.
Then go on to learn about more specific digital topics such as: Social Media, Digital Marketing, Web Analytics. On completion of a course, learners will be awarded a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited digital certificate to showcase their newly developed digital skills.
