Carpenter & Joiner

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Carpenter & Joiner in HMP Manchester, 1 Southall Street, Manchester M60 9AH.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Staff are required to work on a rota basis between Saturday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday 08:00 - 16:00. There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

What you will do:

• Carry out joinery work to include repairing of doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items.
• Responsible for joinery workshop - maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping and cleanliness.
• Measure and quote for works.
• Order materials and maintain stock of Building Maintenance material.

What you will bring:

• Organisation in work, with attention to detail.
• Manual tool handling.
• Ladder use.
• Level 3 in Joinery & Carpentry is required; however we may consider applications if you have NVQ level 2.
• Experience in Maintenance.
